Many Americans still drink water with unhealthy levels of toxic chemicals, heavy metals, bacteria, and other contaminants.
Some chemicals can make you sick if they are in your tap water at unsafe levels.
Find information below about the chemicals that most often contaminate tap water and cause disease, and how to remove them.
*** Educating yourself and your family about these chemicals is important, especially if you own or rent a home built in the early to mid- century in the Village because many of the homes and/ or cottages may not have had their plumbing updated.***
For example, the most common sources of lead in drinking water are lead pipes, faucets, and plumbing fixtures. Certain pipes that carry drinking water from the water source to the home may contain lead. Household plumbing fixtures, welding solder, and pipe fittings made prior to 1986 may also contain lead.
Lead sampling of residential tap water is available from the Environmental Division of the Medina County Health Department for a fee of $55.

Understanding the Quality of your Drinking Water
Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs), also known as water quality reports or drinking water quality reports, provide you with important information about the quality of your drinking water.
. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires every community water supplier to provide a CCR to its customers.
Community water suppliers must provide CCRs to their customers by mail or online by July 1st.
If you don’t pay your water bill directly—for example, if you live in an apartment or rental house where the landlord or a management company pays the water bill—you may need to contact them for more information. You could also check online to see if your CCR is posted.
Only community water systems that serve the same people year-round provide CCRs, and our Village does, from Medina County Sanitary Engineers.

Chippewa Lake Historical Society and Medina County Park District Announce Partnership and Plans for Museum, Parking Medina County Park District (MCPD) and the Chippewa Lake Historical Society (CLHS) have
partnered on a 10 year lease that will bring a museum and new trailhead to Chippewa Lake Park in 2025.
CLHS is leasing property from MCPD located at 7464 Lake Road in Lafayette Township.
The three-bedroom, 1,000-square-foot house, built in 1920, sits at the corner of Lake Road and Lane, at the north end of the former amusement park property. CLHS plans to use
this historic home as its headquarters and as a small indoor museum. The surrounding yard will feature artifacts from the former amusement park, including a ticket booth and ride cars.
In 2025, MCPD will begin Phase 1 construction of public access amenities at the former
amusement park property, including parking, trails, restrooms, and picnic shelters north of Main Drive.
The area leased to CLHS will serve as one of two planned trailheads in this first phase of development. Once parking is established, CLHS plans to open its museum doors one Saturday
per month from May-October ea. yr.
Founded in 2015, CLHS is dedicated to preserving the memories of Chippewa Lake, from its earliest Native American inhabitants to
today's water skiers and photographers.
The society's primary focus is on Chippewa Lake Park and the countless individuals who
created lasting memories there. "We are beyond pleased to partner with Medina County Park District in restoring the site on the former farm of Parker Beach, a name synonymous with Chippewa Lake," said Gayle Foster, president of CLHS. "Over the past decade, we have collected photos, memorabilia, and oral histories. We are excited to finally have a museum to display and share our finds with the community and beyond."
Chippewa Lake Amusement Park operated from 1878 to 1978 featuring rides, a hotel, and a ballroom. Renowned entertainers such as bandleaders Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Lawrence Welk performed there. The park was a popular site for company picnics hosted by industrial giants like Firestone, Ohio Edison, Timken, and Rubbermaid. Notable visitors included Henry Ford and Thomas Edison.
Materials, donations, and volunteers will be needed to get the museum started.
Please contact CLHS at: chippewalakehistory@gmail.com
if you would like to get involved in this exciting project.

At more than 300-acres, Chippewa Lake is Ohio’s largest glacial lake, making it ecologically and culturally significant.
In recent years, the lake has been plagued by harmful algal blooms. This project will restore several wetlands and a stream channel to intercept nutrients from nearby agricultural drainage areas, and create wetland habitat within the footprint of a former amusement park along the shore of Chippewa Lake.
Project size: 50 Acres
Project site type: Public
Partners: Medina County Parks

Property Fraud Alert is an online subscription service offered to the public that allows them to have their name monitored within the Recorder's office in order to track possible fraudulent recordings that affects their property.
The threat of mortgage fraud and identity theft crimes continue to rise, and all too often victims of these types of fraudulent activities are unaware their homes or identity have been stolen. While Property Fraud Alert does not prevent fraud from happening; it provides an early warning system for property owners to take appropriate actions should they determine possible fraudulent activity has
taken place.
